Product strategy and engineering, from the same person.

I'm Minas Kamel — a product leader with 15+ years in FinTech and ecommerce, and a hands-on engineering background. I help startups and product teams decide what to build, then actually ship it.

Product Consulting

Fifteen years building software. I've owned strategy and roadmaps for SaaS platforms in FinTech, ecommerce, home services and construction — and I've written production code for most of my career. That means I can run discovery with customers on Monday and pressure-test the architecture with your engineers on Tuesday.

Product Strategy & Roadmapping

Turn a vague ambition into a sequenced, defensible roadmap tied to business outcomes: ARR, adoption, retention. Includes stakeholder alignment so the plan actually survives contact with the org.

Discovery & Validation

Customer interviews, market and competitor analysis, Jobs-to-Be-Done framing, and quantitative digging to find out whether the thing is worth building before you spend a quarter on it.

MVP Scoping & Prioritisation

Cutting scope without cutting value. I define the smallest release that proves the bet, and set up prioritisation mechanisms that reduce bespoke one-off work in favour of scalable product.

Product Operating Model

Setting up the rhythm: discovery cadence, sprint planning, OKRs, intake for customer and sales requests, and clear boundaries between product, delivery and commercial teams.

Fractional / Embedded Product Manager

Drop-in product leadership for teams without a PM, or cover during a hiring gap or a critical delivery phase. Part-time, ongoing, remote-friendly.

Technical Feasibility & Engineering Partnership

Because I've been the engineer. Realistic estimation, technical risk surfaced early, and specs your developers won't have to reverse-engineer. Especially useful for non-technical founders.

Selected Product Outcomes

70% → 90% customer retention

Restructured sprint planning to absorb support tickets, and introduced SLAs with priority tiers so reported issues actually got resolved. (SaaS platform for tradies and home services)

24% annualised growth

Championed the launch of a next-generation platform through discovery, scoping and GTM alignment.

20% → <0.1% email spam rate

Led a third-party integration that drastically cut invoice email bounce rates for an SMB invoicing platform.

Months → 2-week release cycles

Rebuilt the way product, design and engineering collaborated, and moved the team onto fortnightly sprints.

+10% platform usage

Led the launch of a new mobile app for a US-listed FinTech, improving discoverability of its receivables features.

Self-service analytics unlocked

Modernised a data platform onto Databricks SQL, removing the ad-hoc reporting bottleneck and improving data governance.

Product teams of 10–15

Led cross-functional product and engineering teams; previously ran a seven-engineer team on the ecommerce engine behind one of Europe's largest online retailers.

Results delivered in senior product roles across FinTech, ecommerce, home services and construction SaaS. Company details available on request.

About

Product

I lead product by getting close to customers and close to the data. Discovery interviews, Mixpanel and Amplitude, Productboard for intake, OKRs the team actually believes in. I'm at my best in ambiguity — clarifying MVP scope, unblocking stalled delivery, and shifting teams from reactive delivery to strategic outcomes.

Engineering

I've shipped iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, Objective-C), Android, React Native and full-stack React/TypeScript products end to end. I still build. That's why my roadmaps are grounded in what's actually buildable, and why I can hand engineers a spec that doesn't need translating.

How I work

Fixed-scope engagements, product audits, or ongoing retainers. Async-first with weekly check-ins. Remote, flexible across time zones — based in Sydney, comfortable with AU, UK and US overlap.
